Points of Light Institute promotes and manages volunteerism, charitable giving, and civic engagement.  Their vision is that one day every person will discover their power to make a difference, creating healthy communities in vibrant democracies around the world.

Points of Light Institute operates three distinct business units:

• Handson Network. Helps inspire and promote volunteerism, and provides training and management assistance through their 250 worldwide member affiliates. From small ideas to large scale projects, Handson Network provides assistance to help people and organizations create change.
• MissionFish. Through a unique collaboration with Ebay, manages charitable donations from buyers and sellers to over 15,000 charities. In 2008, MissionFish raised about $55 million dollars for charities through Ebay transactions.
• Civic Incubator. Creating solutions to civic problems and inefficiencies through large scale economies and volunteer mobilization.  For example, 500,000 AmeriCorps alumni are providing service leadership nationally.
